Omicron variant live updates

• India's Omicron tally 214, Delhi leads at 57; PM Modi to hold review meeting tomorrow.
• The Union health ministry on Wednesday said India has reported 214 cases of Omicron so far.
• The country, meanwhile, reported 6,317 new Covid-19 cases and 318 deaths in 24 hours.
• India's current active caseload, at 78,190, is the lowest in 575 days.
• With one more case in Andhra Pradesh, India's Omicron tally jumps to 214.
• In India, 1,38,95,90,670 Covid vaccine doses have been administered so far with 57,05,039 shots having been given in the last 24 hours.
• 2nd Omicron case in Andhra Pradesh: A 39-year-old woman who arrived in Chennai from Kenya, and then traveled to Tirupati, tested positive for Covid on December 12.
• Her sample sent for genome sequencing detected Omicron today.
